About Us

The Consultative Council was established by the Minister for Health and Children on the 26 November 1996 by Statutory Instrument (S.I. No 339 of 1996), to advise the Minister on all matters relating to Hepatitis C.

The Consultative Council works hard to ensure that all HAA cardholders are informed as to their entitlements to certain health services and are provided with information on the challenges of living with Hepatitis C. To this end the Council organises events such as the annual Hepatitis C Information Day in Dublin. The day includes a comprehensive programme dealing with issues such as Nutrition and Well Being to Treatment and Transplantation. The Council also organises an International Hepatitis C Conference every 3 years. The conference includes a multi-strand programme which runs simultaneously, targeting clinicians, lay people living with Hepatitis C, GPs and other health care professionals working in the community. More Information on these events can be found at the events page on this website

The Consultative Council produces a variety of Guides and booklets please refer to our publications page
